Kakurezaki is a celebrated contemporary ceramic artist who represents today's Bizen ware. His distinctive works are in many prestigious museums such as V&A in London.
This sculptural vase personifies one of his signature styles which shaped like unidentifiable animals. The surface of this work shows the beautiful interaction of natural ash glaze and markings on the body resulting from firing. This work is a genuine masterpiece of contemporary Bizen.
