Kawai Kanjiro
河井寛次郎
Kawai Kanjiro (1890-1966) was a key figure in the Mingei movement founded with Yanagi Soetsu, Hamada Shoji and Bernard Leach. He sought to combine modern methods with traditional Japanese and English designs. He embraced an unpretentious and simple style without personal prestige.
